I am a lecturer primarily in computer networks and Internet related courses and a member of the ACROSS research group.
My research interests are in performance affects of misbehaviour
(malicious or unintentional) in mobile ad-hoc networks, efficient
routing algorithms in wireless networks (sensor and ad-hoc), the use
of sensor and ad-hoc networks in supporting emergency services, QoS
support for IP based networks, real-time scheduling theory, real-time
communication in WANs especially multi-media, fault-tolerance for
real-time systems and Internet protocols. I am also interested in
educational research related to pedagogy, Computer Science curriculum
(particularly in the area of computer networks), and the use of online
technology to support student learning.
I also have an interest in natural language
processing, linguistics and foreign languages. I have
studied linguistics, Spanish (6 yrs), French (2 yrs), Russian (2
yrs), German (1 yr) and Japanese (1 yr) and have many
years without any practice...so please don't expect fluency ;-)

Please note that I am no longer actively working with the REAL Network Simulator. I am now working with ns2. I won't be doing further update work for REAL. If you have questions, I will still try to assist; but only as time allows.
My linux patches for the
REAL
network simulator.
REAL
version 4 patch
REAL
version 5 patch
REAL version 5 Red Hat 6 & 7 patch
REAL version 5 Red Hat 9 patch
clean-it
(you need this file for REAL version 5 patches)
state.o
(you'll need this if you are running assembler version 2.9.X (the default
with RedHat 6.2) To check what version you are running type as -V.
Alternatively, probably the better option, update your assembler by
installing the RPM for binutils-2.10 from your favourite mirror
site or RedHat).

If I'm not at Uni you can find me playing with my two daughters (age 5 & 7). They take up all of my free time these days. Before they came along, you used to be able to find me:
- Playing canoe polo
- Playing GURPS and nethack
- Studying and performing Egyptian style Raks Sharqui and Baladi
dancing (commonly known as belly dancing)
- Wine tasting (or just enjoying a glass by the pool). I live near
several major wine regions
- Clare Valley (1.5 hours)
- Barossa Valley (.5 hour)
- McLaren Vale (1 hour)
- Coonawarra (4 hours)
