Creating nup Powerpoint files

Here are some approaches to creating nup files from Powerpoint slides for use as handouts in a Windows XP environment

Via postscript file

The first approach is to firstly print to a postscript file.

This involves creating a postscript printer that prints to the file port. Click here for more details. Once this is done there are two choices

  1. Print the presentation in single page mode to a postscript file (grayscale is usually better for handouts). Then use psnup in Linux or Unix to produce a postscript file in the suitable nup mode. Finally use ps2pdf in Linux or Unix to produce a pdf file.
  2. Choose one of the built in Powerpoint handout styles and print to a postscript file (again choosing grayscale). Then use ps2pdf in Linux or Unix to produce a pdf file.
The final step for both of the approaches could also be done using Adlib's PDF relay.
