Professional
Dr Fred Brown is a Senior Lecturer in
Computer Science at
The University of Adelaide.
He is a Chartered Member of the British Computer Society,
is a Chartered Engineer,
is a Chartered Scientist,
a member of the ACM and is a member of the IEEE.
Fred holds a PhD from
St
Andrews University in Scotland, for his work in Persistent Object Systems.
During this time he was a co-designer and implementor of the orthogonally
persistent programming language
Napier88
which supports strong typing, parametric polymorphism, a dynamically callable
compiler and an integrated persistent run-time environment. His research
interests now extend to the broad area of bioinformatics with particular
emphasis on sequence indexing, approximate matching and sequence classification.
