GeneAroundTheWorld Polygon Lecture Theatre Level 2, Plaza Building The University of Adelaide |
On February 29th, 2008 from 2pm till 5pm, there will be a meeting held
in The University of Adelaide's Polygon Lecture Theatre, Level 2,
Plaza Building
to honour the personal and professional
contributions that Gene H. Golub made to the world of
Numerical Linear Algebra.
This event, to take place on what would have
been Gene's 76th birthday, will be one of a series of similar events
replicated around the world on the same day
in (so far)
Stanford, Canberra, Dartmouth MA,
Hong Kong, Leuven, Oxford, Pisa, Tripolis and Urbana-Champaign.
The webpage
with the full list of events
is being maintained by Mike Overton of NYU.
The afternoon program will follow Gene's style and be run in a very informal and relaxed atmosphere. It will include some technical talks and reminiscences and will be followed by Gene's favourite - a chinese restaurant meal somewhere nearby. The program will be released sometime soon.
Attendance is free. If you cannot attend but want your tribute to Gene to be noted please indicate that in the online form below.
The meeting is being organized by Sylvan Elhay and Jerry Kautsky.
