  1. Title: A Visualized Browser for Semantically Enhanced Web Services Discovery
Supervisors: Dr Jian Yu, Dr Michael Sheng
Description:The Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) service registry specification is currently one of the core standards in the Web service technology stack and an integral part of a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). However, service discovery using UDDI suffers from low precision because of it's keyword-based search. This project aims at implementing a novel visualised tool for service discovery, which combines service metadata on UDDI and service semantic descriptions. In this project, you will have the opportunity to learn Web Ontology Language (OWL) and its associated visualisation tools. .

  2. Title: A Model-Driven Tool for Weaving Business Processes and Rules
Supervisors: Dr Michael Sheng, Dr Jian Yu (Taken by Mr Joshua Kheng Swee)
Description: Service-Oriented Computing (SOC) is a promising paradigm to implement cross-organizational e-business applications, and business processes and rules both play a central role in SOC. However, the intermixing of processes and rules using a process language (e.g. Web Services Business Process Execution Language, WS-BPEL for short) weakens the modularity and adaptability of the system. This project aims are: i) to implement a graphical tool to model the weaving of business processes and rules based on the aspect-oriented engineering principle, and ii) to translate the model into an executable architecture where business rules are executed separately on a rule engine.
