The Electronic Flora of
South Australia is the Web site of the
State Herbarium of South Australia's Plant Biodiversity Centre.
It provides information on plant species and their
geographical distributions, and on herbarium specimens.
I worked with the Plant Biodiversity Centre in developing a prototype
of this site, which mainly involved writing perl CGI programs to
generate Web pages showing plant species distributions, herbarium
specimen information, and species fact sheets.
-
Australia's Virtual
Herbarium is a Web-based information system that combines
plant species and specimen information from all the herbaria in Australia.
I helped design and develop a prototype of this Web-based information system,
including the generation of real-time maps of herbarium specimen collection
data from distributed databases throughout Australia.

The NPAC/OLDA Visible Human Viewer
is a Java applet
that lets you slice up a person in the comfort and safety of your own home,
without all the mess that's usually involved in such activities.
This applet was one of the first uses of Java to provide a Web-based
interactive graphical user interface to a large dataset on a remote server.
-
Kids Web
is a Web digital library for schoolkids, started in 1994
(back when Yahoo! was just a couple of
college students, and there were no good Web portals designed for kids)
for a course on
the Internet for 8th graders.
I am no longer involved in maintaining the Kids Web site.
-
An integrated set of Web CGI programs was developed for use in education,
developed in collaboration with
Community School Networks, Inc., as
part of the InfoMall program.
-
WeBBoard is a Web-based discussion and bulletin board system.
-
The LivingPage allows collaborative updating of structured
Web documents, such as lists of hyperlinks, using a simple forms interface.
-
VitalZines is an interactive electronic magazine, allowing user
feedback.
-
The NPAC Slideshow Viewer
is a Java applet
that lets you give slideshows to the whole world, not just friends and
relatives.
-
lslide2html
is a perl program for converting presentations written in
LaTeX using lslide.sty to HTML.
It acts as a pre-processor so that
latex2html can handle the document.
-
List of U.S. colleges on the Internet
was done in 1995 (when not many campuses had Web sites,
and some were not even on the Internet)
as part of a mentorship project with some high-school students.
I am no longer maintaining this list.
