About Computer Graphics

Graphics software is usually one part of a larger project. This means that a graphics programmer is usually a member of a team, and may find themselves working in a variety of fields and with a variety of people. For example you could:

  • Work with other programmers and with artists to create a 3D computer game.
  • Work with architects to create lifelike walkthroughs of future constructions.
  • Work with scientists or engineers to visualise complex data or processes.
  • Work with artists and effects specialists to create special effects for film or TV.
  • Work with educators to create visual learning software.
  • Work with medical professionals to visualise medical image data.

By combining essential Computer Science skills with a practical foundation in Design Studies and Digital Media graduates will be well equipped to work with both technical and artistic colleagues.

Where do they work?

Graduates with skills in computer graphics are in demand across the globe. Employment opportunities range from startup software companies to large corporations to the public sector, in a range of fields including entertainment, education, architecture, design and medical and scientific data visualisation.
