The B.Comp.Sc. caters for people with specific interests in computer science / information technology. It consists of a foundation of computer science and mathematics, with options in statistics, commerce and economics. The program produces graduates who are able to design computer-based solutions to the problems of information management and processing in industry, commerce and the public sector. Employment opportunities are provided in the areas of administration, computer programming, computer science, information technology management, quality improvement or systems analysis.

Students who do well in their courses may complete an additional year of study to obtain an honours degree which provides opportunity for research and enhanced employment prospects. With selection of appropriate courses and extension of studies beyond the basic three-year program, students in the B.Comp.Sc. may also obtain a formal accounting qualification.

The Bachelor of Computer Science involves a minimum of three years full-time study and is designed to provide a professional qualification in computing and information technology. It provides the necessary academic requirements for membership of the Australian Computer Society (ACS), the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the American-based Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
